The Village Ghost Hunt

Join Haunted Evenings as we enter “The Village”, a disorientating maze of rooms within this large sprawling former 1800’s slaughter house. The building (more recently used as a local nightclub) was left abandoned and disused for over 10 years before taking on its present role. Now a warren of dark rooms even by day, the current theme only adds to the surreal unnerving surroundings you’ll find yourself in at night. The remains of the old nightclub stairwells and old piano, heard playing by itself, are just some of the eerily hidden away areas to investigate. There’s a real heavy shift in the atmosphere as you step downstairs and with several accounts of paranormal activity that been reported here, The Village is the perfect place to test your nerves!

Built in 1787, originally used as an animal slaughter house, it’s main use throughout the 1800’s was as a Malt House. Many children would have made up the workforce back then, with long hours and hard labour, this may be one of the factors that has led to The Village becoming so reputedly haunted with the sounds of disembodied voices. A piano, left behind from it’s entertaining days as a nightclub, sits gathering dust in one area of the building but doesn’t sit so silent. Many visitors have heard it play by itself when everyone has been accounted for. A menacing male energy has often been picked up in the lower half of the building which could explain the noticeable shift in atmosphere as you wander into the dark depths of the old building.
Your ghost hunting experience with Haunted Evenings at The Village will start with a tour of the location with the lights on. You’ll get to access all areas throughout the night as you break off to take part in various paranormal experiments. For the brave, a chance to take off your choice of equipment and see what you can experience on your own. This location is deceptively large and we will be splitting guests up into smaller groups in order to cover as much ground as possible.

Event Review

Farewell January! We ended the month of investigations by re-entering “The Village” – a former nightclub and 18th Century slaughter house situated in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Whilst only parts of the old nightclub are evident today, and it’s current use (as a laser tag venue) makes it hard to visualise it’s origins as a slaughter house (then malt house), The Village has become a popular place to investigate due to its impressive back catalogue of paranormal reports.

Last night was our 4th investigation here and our Haunted Evenings event certainly added to our list of previous evidence.

Ouija session –
1. Name of Mark came forward that Lee (Venue host) was able to verify has come forward before.
2. Personal connection for one of the female guests
3. A further personal Spirit connection came forward and was able to copy a word hidden written on a clipboard.

Trigger vigil –
1. Smell of whisky was experienced by a guest whilst down in the old nightclub area. Our music box detected movement almost directly after asking spirit if they would like us to play music. A Rempod triggered on the piano after we asked spirit to make a noise. An Evp suggesting the name “Francesca” was heard on playback with a “yes I can” when asked if spirit could see the group. An EvP “get back down from there” was captured when a guest stood next to the main staircase.
2. “Get Out” heard on playback having taken a baseline recording, a guest sensed a male dominant character (bouncer?) moments before.
3. A further “Get out of here” picked up on the recorder as well as vibe pod triggers on the piano.

Equipment vigil –
1.The name “Christopher Henry” came forward via voice recorder during a call out in the main ground floor area as well as a distinct rustling heard from behind the group whilst everyone was stood still. This was repeated in vigil 3
2. “Get them out of there” was heard via a recording as the guests were all located next door. A whistle was heard by a couple of guests in the main ground floor area.
Cold spots felt and a shadow was seen by a couple of guests (similar to previous investigations). An EVP stating “yes I like the music” was captured after a team member spoke about music. Guests reported the sensation of swaying during the start of a call out vigil.
3. A faint “Goodbye” was heard on our recorder as the team member wrapped up the session and a shout was heard on playback.

Thank you to last nights team for helping to investigate this unique location and to all those who attended for your input and enthusiasm into making our 4th visit another intriguing event.

Last night we entered a disused nightclub and slaughter house in Nottinghamshire known to many as “The Village”. It’s fair to say what this place lacks in looks it certainly makes up for tenfold in paranormal personality! This venue was and has always been up there for us activity wise and I’m sure all that attended last night would agree that last night hit the spot once again!
With so much to report and unfortunately a long travel north imminent, there isn’t enough time now to compile a worthy write up but a highlight for the team was certainly connecting with an “Elizabeth” in the club part, her name can be heard spoken through our recorder.

Thanks to all that attended last night you were all brilliant and made the night for the team such an awesome one!

It’s been 2 months since our first visit to “The Village” in Mansfield and the team were back in force to continue the investigations of this old slaughter house. This time a new full house of guests attended and The Village did not disappoint!. Guests, independently of each other, saw a shadow at the start of the event and a group reported a sense of shadows lurking during a human pendulum vigil where a strong male spirit presence was detected.

The Ouija board produced some interesting results whereby the spirit of a pregnant lady came through who had allegedly been murdered by her husband because he didn’t want the baby. The team also reported that the REMPOD’s were triggered by an unknown force during a couple of vigils as well as voices captured on the spirit box!

Last night Haunted Evenings were out investigating in force with 2 sold out events running at The Ancient Ram Inn and The Village in Mansfield.

Over at The Village, guests were split down into small groups to cover all areas. Names were picked up over the spirit box which were validated by the venue organiser. People were touched and an interesting Human Pendulum down in the old club area picked up on a strong male presence that a previous group had picked up earlier on in the night. Our devices were triggered throughout this old slaughterhouse/nightclub and all areas produced some fascinating experiences for the guests.
Thank you to each and every guest who travelled out in the cold to join us on our Haunted Evenings and to the team members out last night on both events, thanks so much for your hard work
