Join Haunted Evenings at Nottingham’s Most Haunted location – The Galleries of Justice Museum. The Museum has been voted “the most haunted building in the UK” and we can vouch for it being rife with activity. Last time we investigated we captured a shadow figure in the court rooms along with several EVP’s and our trigger equipment wasn’t quiet for long! The Galleries, with its deep dark history, is one of those places that puts most on edge, the condemned mans cell, wash room area and Oubliette, as well as courtyard gallows all have intense atmosphere’s – we’re back to take you on a ghost hunting experience you’ll never forget!
You’ll be one of just a few ghost hunters for the evening, checking out the prison cells, caves and court rooms, either on your own or within small groups. You’ll get the chance to use all the latest ghost hunting gadgets and really get a feel for what it is like to go ghost hunting at one of the top haunted locations!.
History of The Galleries of Justice
The Galleries of Justice (also known as Shire Hall) in Nottingham, England, is a place filled with history. It’s been used for law enforcement purposes for over 600 years, with evidence that suggests the hall was first used back in 1375 by the Normans, who had appointed Sheriff’s to keep peace and collect the taxes from the population. There was also a jail here with records showing its use as early as 1449. The prison cells can still be accessed today. The hall was also used as a police station from 1905 to 1985, whilst the courtrooms closed in 1986.
England’s history of Crime and Punishment is a shocking one, as are the sinister and grim stories of Nottingham’s own outlaws which are brought to life in the building where they were judged, imprisoned and executed. It is little wonder that The Galleries of Justice has become home to some very unnerving characters who appear to haunt all areas of the location.

Join Haunted Evenings on a Ghost Hunting experience at the amazing Galleries of Justice Museum in Nottingham. The Galleries of Justice Museum Ghost Hunt will take you on an access all areas tour of this incredible building. You’ll start your night with a tour of the old court rooms before being sentenced down below to the very cells many were imprisoned, including the condemned mans cell, the last place before execution. The walk round doesn’t stop there! There are plenty of other areas to explore, the old wash rooms and the Gallows area. Step even further below the old Nottingham Shire Hall and find yourself in the cave area. A very dark, damp and eerie part of the building. Tour completed with the lights on, you’ll then be split off into smaller groups (less than 10) and taken to separate parts of the building to carry out a variety of experiments. Haunted Evenings like to throw into the mix a variety of vigils, not only to keep the night interesting for all the guests, but to ensure as much potential paranormal activity is captured as possible.
You could find yourself, on the Galleries of Justice Museum Ghost Hunt, taking part in a lock down experiment in the condemned mans cell, using some of our hi-tech gadgets. Next maybe try your hand at some more traditional experiments such as glass divination, human pendulums and table tipping. We also conduct handheld gadget experiments, a chance for you to use all the very latest equipment for yourself.
